The iDEA Incubation Program is an Information Technology Developers Entrepreneurship Accelerator established to leverage information technologies to bring disruptive change.


iDEA hub is supporting a new generation of Nigerian digital entrepreneurs to develop innovative solutions and business models that make businesses and commerce more efficient, provide new ways to deliver government and social services and help reduce poverty and unemployment in Nigeria.
The iDEA Incubation Program is Recruiting the Following Positions for 2017
Incubation Program Manager
The Program Manager is responsible for
overseeing iDEA’s Incubation Program to help position and enable our
early-stage technology companies. The Program Manager is responsible for
understanding the business needs of iDEA startups  and the key stages of a
startup’s growth. You will possess experience in founding startups and an
appreciation for the challenges of building viable businesses under
uncertainties. The goal of this position is to accelerate the development of
iDEA startups by helping them address their challenges through connections with
appropriate mentors and the venture community.
This position is full-time and reports to the
Chief Executive. The Program Manager will develop and oversee a suite of
support services for the startups, including workshops, boot camps, software
tools and shared resource management ensuring that the Program offers a
differentiating experience to the startups being incubated. Additionally, the
Program Manager will support the growth and management of the iDEA GEM
mentoring program whose participants provide guidance to portfolio companies.
This position requires a team player with
leadership qualities, excellent marketing skills, a professional and positive
attitude, organization and dependability. This is a challenging role but at the
same time makes available endless opportunities and learning for the candidate.
The ideal candidate will have a mix of business
development skills that are required to drive developer, academic, and
ecosystem engagement and innovation skills required to keep the iDEA Program
relevant within the ecosystem , as well as business management skills required
to measure impact and to keep the Program sustainable.
Responsibilities
  • Identify and screen quality candidates for
    participation in the Program; interfaces with Advisory Board on selection.
    Maintain a healthy pipeline of candidates.
  • Induct new entrepreneurs; create Incubation plans and
    implement them, assist in writing business plans, keep track of the
    Incubation process; help the start-ups prepare proposals for getting
    funding, etc.
  • Implement a startup growth program to better guide and
    coach entrepreneurs through a combination of workshops, seminars,
    networking events, and individual meetings.
  • Facilitate relationships between startups, corporate
    partners, and our network of mentors, advisors, investors and technology
    specialists to engage with iDEA startups as they strive for product-market
    fit.
  • Support and mentor startups through key milestones,
    increasing their probability of success from product validation to market
    execution.
  • Keep a pulse on the needs of our portfolio companies
    and address gaps in mentor pool.
  • Track key company metrics and collect testimonials,
    photographs and/or video for purposes of raising funds for the Program.
  • Monitor trends in startups and business incubation to
    bring the highest service level to the Centre and its resident companies.
  • Design and build a database of investors by collecting
    information from interviews with entrepreneurs and investors.
Background

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s in Business or
    Entrepreneurship preferred.
  • At least 2 years of professional work experience, in
    fast-paced project or program management
  • At least 2 years’ work experience at an accelerator,
    incubator or startup
  • A strong academic record matched with an
    entrepreneurial streak that shines through
  • Ability to plan all aspects of a program including
    recruitment, marketing, data gathering, scheduling, budgeting etc.
  • Deep understanding of technology startups with
    experience in founding or leading in one.
  • Demonstrated understanding of growth and commercialization
    challenges of a startup.
  • Strong experience of the concept of minimum viable
    product, product-market fit, customer-solution fit
  • Experience in change-making projects and/or
    demonstrable passion for business beyond profit
  • Strong communicator and relationship management skills
    with the ability to excel in independent working environments.
  • Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an
    ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and
    solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding
    investment in people and systems.
Technology and Product Manager
As Technology and Product Manager at iDEA,
you’ll be working with iDEA startups to discover and shape new product and
business opportunities across various industry verticals, understand user needs
and translate them into requirements. We use human-centered design techniques,
and keep the customer at the heart of our work. You will help the startups
define roadmaps, drive delivery and discovery activities, and put products in
market. You will liaise between startups and iDEA management including making
sure that KPIs are reported accurately and on time.  In addition to your
contributions on the overall product agenda, you’ll also play a key role in
shaping our culture and our people. You’ll provide mentorship, leadership, and
guidance to the iDEA team, and will be an ambassador for iDEA in industry.
Responsibilities
  • Work on product roadmap and development strategy along
    with startups
  • Work with startups to bring product vision to life
  • Support startups in ideation, roadmap prioritization,
    goal/metric setting, story writing, project execution, A/B testing, and
    product roll-out strategy
  • Design and Implement a technical training program to
    guide and coach entrepreneurs through a combination of workshops and
    individual coaching.
  • Support startups in technology selection
  • Build relationships with thought leaders, startups,
    VCs, meet-up groups, and academics
Qualifications
  • Must have 5+ years experience
    in a product owner role at a technology startup
  • Current portfolio of mobile and
    web applications on (Stores, GITHUB or other).
  • Ability to lead software teams
    and project management of mobile and web technologies.
  • Fluency in human-centered
    product discovery methods such as design thinking and service design
  • Data-driven product and
    platform development experience
  • Experience shipping multiple
    products across variety of platforms and channels
  • Experience with Internet of
    Things, Payments, Machine Learning, AI, Voice, or other emerging
    technologies

Workspace and Community Manager
The Space & Community Manager will run the
incubator and coworking space and aim to make iDEA the best possible experience
for our startups and members, their guests and all the participants in our
events. The ideal candidate will be passionate about entrepreneurship, enjoy
meeting and networking with freelancers, entrepreneurs, startups and small
businesses. He or she should understand the concept and value of coworking. The
Space and Community Manager will help create a culture focused on supporting
members and helping grow their businesses. Additionally, this role will be the
primary contact on site and  handle day-to-day operations of the space,
field requests from vendors and partners, create events and programs for
members, and help lead our intern and mentoring program.
Responsibilities
  • Managing all member requests,
    needs, and relations within the community
  • Fielding incoming program,
    space and membership inquiries and requests via email, phone and social
    media.
  • Assisting all drop-ins, as well
    as our members’ clients visiting the space.
  • Greeting prospective members,
    giving tours of the facility, and following up to gauge their interest in
    our community.
  • Registering new members and
    acclimating them to the iDEA community.
  • Help members of the iDEA
    community make the connections that they need to grow their businesses.
  • Managing the monthly membership
    billing cycle.
  • Responsible for maintaining the
    space and our quality standards
  • Manage procurement of all
    office supplies; negotiate with vendors and manage vendor relationships.
  • Planning and coordinating
    onsite events, meetings, and monthly open office hours.
  • Creating and monitoring new
    organizational systems to increase our efficiency and improve our
    community.

    partnership and sponsorship opportunities for the company.
  • Generating weekly reports on
    our membership, sales, and marketing programs.
  • Providing logistical and
    general management support for iDEA’s executive team.

    to: social media, events, press-related items, guerrilla marketing
    promotions and blog writing.

Marketing Communications and Events Lead
The Marketing Communications and Events lead
will creative design, marketing and communications, event execution and
storytelling to support iDEA.  The position will manage strategic outreach
through integrated communications (internal & external storytelling),
engaging our networks and infrastructure support.
Responsibilities
  • Create and execute marketing
    and communications strategy that includes:
    • Writing web content, blogs,
      press releases, newsletters, email communication, event brochures and
      case studies about iDEA programs,our startups and alumni
    • Create, execute and manage
      social media strategy across all platforms, including Facebook,
      Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Snapchat, Pinterest, LinkedIn
    • Creating original concepts for
      marketing content that results in effective and compelling communication.
  • Compose clear, concise, and
    grammatically correct copy using different writing styles that support
    brand voice, are appropriate to content mediums, and appeal to target
    audiences.
  • Create/design reports and
    documents for internal and external use; cohort announcements/summaries,
    impact reports, fundraising documents, PowerPoint slides and pitch decks
    for iDEA events such as Demo Days etc.
  • Tracking and analyzing results,
    setting up and managing CRM, and fine tuning SEO to improve marketing
    strategy
  • Identify, recommend,
    coordinate, and oversee events held at iDEA, online, or at outside venues
    (e.g., conferences, trade shows).
  • Schedule speakers, vendors, and
    participants.
  • Partner with presenters and
    designers to create thought leadership-based speaking presentations and
    the “event experience” – including developing interactive experiences,
    strong presentation content, marketing collateral leave-behinds, and
    graphics design.
  • Support with writing of proposals and RFP responses as
    needed.
  • Calculate budgets and ensure they are adhered to.
  • Create Project Sheet and One Sheets for all events.
  • Schedule speakers, vendors, and participants.
  • Coordinate and monitor event timelines and ensure
    deadlines are met.
  • Secure sponsorships.
  • Develop and maintain external relationships with media,
    pipeline partners, entrepreneurs and those in the entrepreneurship
    ecosystem
